    As Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW successively announced their sales in China in 2020, the result of who is the biggest winner of luxury brands in the Chinese market has also been revealed. In the end, Mercedes-Benz became the single-brand sales champion with an annual sales volume of 774,400 vehicles, while BMW took the top spot with 777,300 vehicles (including MINI) in terms of group sales.

    In 2020, the luxury car market has achieved an unprecedented high growth rate. Among them, the "BBA", the first echelon of luxury brands, has contributed the most to and benefited most from it. According to official data released by Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, Mercedes-Benz's annual sales in China increased by 11.7% year-on-year, BMW achieved a year-on-year growth of 7.4%, and Audi achieved a year-on-year growth of 5.4%.

    Among them, Mercedes-Benz won the single-brand sales champion in the domestic luxury car market with 774,000 vehicles throughout the year. China has become the largest single market for Mercedes-Benz.

    In 2020, Mercedes-Benz launched a total of 18 new models in China. The sedan family, including C-class, E-class, and S-class cars, contributed nearly 50% of the total sales, while SUVs accounted for nearly 40%. Sales increased by 28% year-on-year; in addition, eight domestically-made passenger models of Mercedes-Benz contributed more than 3/4 of its sales in China.

    The BMW Group delivered a total of 777,400 BMW and MINI cars in the Chinese market, setting the best sales record since the company entered the Chinese market in 1994.

    In 2020, BMW launched a total of 17 new cars. The total sales of X-series models for the year were 323,000, an increase of 12.3% year-on-year. Among them, the annual sales of BMW X3 and BMW X5 were approximately 134,000 and 43,000, respectively. For cars, BMW The cumulative annual sales of the 5 Series exceeded 170,000 vehicles, and the BMW 3 Series exceeded 167,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 28.6%.

    It is worth mentioning that BMW also delivered about 30,000 new energy products in 2020. In addition, BMW iX3 has been put into production in China and exported to the world.

    The cumulative annual sales of Audi was approximately 726,300 (including imported cars), of which the annual sales of domestically-produced models was approximately 674,700, a year-on-year increase of 7%, and the cumulative sales of imported models was approximately 51,600.

    Among them, the traditional main model Audi A4L sold about 138,700 units, the new Audi A6L sold about 176,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 34.4%, and the Audi Q5L sold about 149,200 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; in addition, Audi Q2L and Audi Q2L e- The total sales volume of tron, Audi A3, Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 coupe was approximately 204,800 units, which exceeded 30% of the domestic vehicle sales for the first time.

    Looking forward to 2021, new energy has become a new force for the three major luxury brands. According to the plan, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce EQA, EQB, and EQS three pure electric models to the Chinese market in 2021. BMW plans to launch the BMW iX and BMW i4 in 2021. The domestic version of Audi e-tron is expected to be launched in early 2021.
