Mercedes-Benz will deliver a total of 774,000 new cars in China in 2020.
On January 8, the Mercedes-Benz brand released annual delivery data. In 2020, the Mercedes-Benz brand will deliver 2,164,187 new cars globally; among them, plug-in hybrid models and pure electric models account for 7.4% of the overall sales of passenger vehicles.
The Chinese market was the first to show its recovery momentum in the first half of the year, becoming the main driving force of Mercedes-Benz's global performance. In the past year, Mercedes-Benz and its dealer partners have delivered 774,382 new cars to Chinese customers, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year.
Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Daimler AG and Chairman of the Board of Mercedes-Benz AG, stated that Mercedes-Benz’s plug-in hybrid and pure-electric models have achieved more than double sales growth. In 2020, the European passenger car carbon emission target has been reached. The company will continue to promote the "electricity first" strategy and expand the lineup of electric models.
In 2020, Mercedes-Benz will launch a total of 18 new models in China, covering all major market segments. Among them, the sedan family continued to contribute nearly half of the brand's sales; the annual sales of SUV models increased by 28% year-on-year, accounting for nearly 40% of the overall sales; the new generation models were further enriched, and the family's products increased by 36% year-on-year, and sales accounted for 20% .
In 2021, Mercedes-Benz will start the "year of EQ" and will successively introduce three pure electric models of EQA, EQB and EQS to the Chinese market. As the first flagship model based on a large-scale pure electric vehicle architecture (EVA) platform, EQS will have a cruising range of more than 700 kilometers.
