Crossing the 'No Man's Land': CATL's Panshi L4 Fully Redundant Chassis Debuts at the Beijing Auto Show

Publish Date: 2026.04.25

On April 24th, CATL's Panshi L4 fully redundant chassis technology was unveiled at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, focusing on the theme of "crossing the 'no man's land'" and bringing eight redundant technologies for Panshi chassis for L4 autonomous driving. The CATL Panshi chassis is developed by CATL's subsidiary, CATL Intelligent. In addition to targeting a wide range of passenger car markets, this auto show focuses on showcasing a "high safety, high efficiency, and high openness" physical AI base technology solution tailored for autonomous driving.

AI is reshaping cars, and we see that the intelligent brain of cars is becoming stronger - but few people care whether the chassis as a carrier can match the AI driven autonomous car brain. We judge that in the era of L4 true autonomous driving, whether in terms of safety or economy, the chassis must be designed for autonomous driving, rather than modified based on current passenger cars. Yang Hanbing, Managing Director of Era Intelligence, stated. Cai Jianyong, Chief Technology Officer of Era Intelligence, elaborated on the core logic of the Panshi chassis L4 native full redundancy solution from a technical perspective. He pointed out that L4 is a brand new species - the safety logic has shifted from "someone provides safety" to "system provides safety", and vehicles have transformed from consumer goods to production tools that operate 24/7. The original positive development of L4 chassis is an inevitable direction. To this end, based on thousands of extreme failure scenarios verification, Panshi Chassis has developed 8 redundant systems (low-voltage power supply, communication, domain control, braking, steering; high-voltage dual core, electric drive, thermal management), covering all key links, with the goal of reducing the collapse rate of autonomous vehicles caused by system failures to "almost zero". In addition to redundancy, the Panshi chassis also strengthens safety guarantees from the aspects of physical defense and brain body coordination, and the triple defense line jointly provides a bottom line for L4 safety. CATL Panshi Chassis is based on battery safety technology, building a complete safety system from battery cells to systems, from physical protection to collaborative control. Its application areas cover the passenger car mass production market and RoboX scene models. It is reported that for the passenger car mass production market, Times Intelligence has reached deep cooperation with domestic brands such as BAIC, and has entered the stage of deep mass production and development with a well-known overseas new energy vehicle brand. In the future, projects will be implemented in multiple countries and regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia; In the L4 unmanned driving application scenario, we will collaborate with partners in intelligent driving and travel operations to build a new intelligent ecosystem.
